Boerne River Road Park Bank Stabilization

In the heart of Boerne, Texas, River Road Park provides waterfront access to Cibolo Creek that includes trails, picnic tables, fishing piers, and other amenities. Over the years, overpopulation of water fowl, unrestricted pedestrian access, and drought have damaged natural vegetation and resulted in erosion within the park and along the creek.

The EPR team is providing design and construction oversight services to the City through the River Road Park Bank Stabilization project. This project addresses erosion along Cibolo Creek using natural approaches to bank stabilization, including rock sill toe protection with vegetated embankment, and a robust landscaping plan to manage overland flow. Installation of two additional fishing piers and a 250-ft elevated boardwalk will also provide pedestrian access to the creek.

This project provides the community with a revitalized park experience with improved access to creek views and fishing, native vegetation landscapes along the trail, and improved water quality. Construction of the project was completed in March 2024.
