Stoney Creek Project

EPR was selected to spearhead a first-of-its-kind pilot project for the Stoney Creek watershed in Goldsboro, NC, in collaboration with the Division of Mitigation Services and the Department of Environmental Quality (DEQ). The primary purpose of this project is to identify and implement flood mitigation projects within the Stoney Creek watershed to help mitigation flooding impacts. As a pilot project under DEQ, the project also seeks to identify best practices and lessons learned that can be applied to flood mitigation work in other watersheds. Through detailed hydrologic and hydraulic modeling, EPR is identifying key areas for nature-based solutions to address flooding, aiming to improve conditions in both rural and urban sectors of the watershed. This initiative targets local challenges and paves the way for broader natural infrastructure strategies across North Carolina, bolstering community resilience.
